About Paracas

Paracas, located on the west coast of Peru, is a destination that blends history, natural beauty and adventure. The rugged, unique ecosystem spans desert, ocean, the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas Peninsula. The Paracas National Reserve offers a unique landscape where the desert meets the ocean, creating a fascinating blend of red sand beaches, imposing cliffs, and the blue waters of the Pacific. Paracas serves as a gateway to the Ballestas Islands, a wildlife paradise with colonies of Humboldt penguins, pelicans, sea lions, and a diverse marine fauna. On its shores, flamingos can also be spotted, birds that inspired liberator San Martín in the design of the Peruvian flag.

Inside the Paracas National Reserve are more than 100 archeological sites, many of them of the distinctive Paracas culture, which flourished between 800 B.C. and 100 B.C, with intricate textile arts, well-preserved pottery and tombs. The Paracas Candelabra, a huge historic geoglyph etched into a hill overlooking the sea, adds a mysterious charm to the region. Many myths about the geoglyph’s origins circulate.

In addition to its historical and natural attractions, Paracas is renowned for its exquisite seafood cuisine.

Paracas stands out for its tranquil mornings, ideal for sky sports, and its strong afternoon winds, perfect for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Embrace the beach and sea way of life during your stay in Paracas.
